Japan and Korea: 12 nights in July 2013

Experience the delights of Asia in this great 12-night cruise. It leaves from Kobe and returns to Tokyo, visiting many ports in Japan and one in South Korea along the way. July means summer in Japan, so you can enjoy a break from southern hemisphere rain and cold and experience oriental sunshine!

This cruise allows for more than one day in two of the cities- Kobe and Hiroshima. This takes away the rushed feeling that many cruises can have, and allows more in-depth exploration of these places. Several days in Kobe means a chance to explore the parks, restaurants, shops and everything else this city has to offer, and to see the beautiful lights of Kobe by night!

The first stop after leaving Kobe is Hiroshima, of atomic bomb fame. Now, the city is testament to human will at overcoming such a disaster. Visitors can visit the Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome, as well as see some of the ruins left by the bomb.Nearby Myajima island is also a beautiful spot to visit. The only Vietnamese port of call comes next, Busan, which is a fascinating cities where old mixes with new.

Back in Japan, the ship calls in at Sakaiminato, Maizuru and Kanazawa along the country's western coast. Over these three days you will come across beaches, history and phenomenal shopping at Kanazawa, a UNESCO City of Crafts and Folk Art. Aomori in northern Japan comes next, a beautiful place of apple orchards and cherry blossoms with a troubled past, being destroyed twice, once by fire and once by war. The final port is Muroran, and after a day spent there the ship disembarks in the bustling city of Tokyo.
